Pictures with Details

Still no letter from Chaz this week, but we talked with him after he sent a bunch of pictures. Here are some of the photos with explanations: Elder Bahr and Elder Jarman at a river near their house. Cooling off in the water. No swimming! Elder Jarman teaching members how to make French Toast Teeter break during the day. There was a whole rabbit cooking thing, not sure if this is rabbit or not. Making corn - said it tastes like popcorn. Skinning and eating rabbit. Chaz says it tasted amazing.

Brief Update

No letter yet from Chaz this week, although he told us last night that he was working on a long one. Sent some pictures though. This past week was a little rough for him and his companion health-wise. They thought he had Covid and made them quarantine for three days. After two negative tests, he definitely doesn't, but has been sick off an on now for several weeks.  Any prayers in that direction are much appreciated. We talked to him last night and he is still in great spirits and doing well - just a little tired of not being healthy and being stuck in an apartment. Bart

Life in Divina Providencia

Letter to Kayli this week (and lots of pics) How do you get clean water?  Yeah, uhhhh, we don't. We shower, wash our clothes, wash the dishes, etc with the filthy green water. We are thinking about cleaning our pila (water container), but yeah... it's filthy. We drink, prepare dishes, and brush our teeth with clean water that we buy from the local pulperia. We can get 5 gallons of water for pretty little. Were you able to do anything fun for your birthday?  I made us French toast for my birthday (I remember some things from scouts). I was sick with head pain most of the day because I ran out of the medication I use to help. I get tons of chest pain and head pain if I don't take anything. The doctor says it's nothing serious but the pain is still pretty irritating. What is your favorite part of your new area? I'm not in a city. We have a couple of small neighborhoods out in the middle of nowhere. Sometimes it's hard to find things but the capital city is only 1 h...

Divina Providencia

Yeah, I haven't written in a while because I have been busy on Pdays. I have time right now so here we go. Tuesday: Welcome to Divina Providencia My area got changed, again. I guess I should pack light from now on. I headed out to my area. We took a taxi to a mall and from there a bus to my area. My area is a really small town 1 mile out from Tegus. There is nothing here. From the highway it literally looks like a power plant and that's it. We have the catholic church building, the town market and several streets worth of houses.  We don't have running water, the water we do have is green (was brown when I got here) and yeah...   After unpacking my things,  we left the house to go get lunch because we don't got a pensionista here. After lunch, we went and visited with some people. We helped some ranchers heard cows (yee hah) which was pretty fun. These cows are big but they sure do think only about their stomachs so they kept on stopping to eat.  Wednesday: Mach...
