Two Baptismal Dates

Monday: Zone P-day We had p-day day with our entire zone on Monday. We hung out and had pupusas for lunch. Not too much happened other than spending time with the other missionaries. Tuesday: Maryuri During Tuesday afternoon, Elder Xicara kept on saying that he really wanted a baptism date. I asked if he thought anyone was ready and he wasn't sure. We went and visited the family of Maryuri who is one of our investigators. They needed help cleaning the house so my companion swept while I washed all the dishes. Afterwards we had a lesson with the family and started to talk about the plan of salvation. We were talking about the requirements for spirit paradise and baptism came up. We then talked about the Doctrine of Christ and how baptism is a commandment of God. We asked if Maryuri wanted to and she said yes! She is going to be baptized the first of May, but we still have concerns about her father's opinion of us. That night we visited one of the sisters in the ward and ...

Mountains, Wedding, and Oatmeal

Monday: Del Corral Our pensionista recommended that we visit this popular grocery store named Del Corral. Its a very nice one close to our house which is great. I found some off brand oatmeal which is 13 servings for like 2 bucks which is really cheap. We bought these cups but when we got to the cashier we found out they were 100 lempiras each (4 dollars).  That's really expensive here. That's the price of a meal in a restaurant.  Speaking of expensive stuff, earlier that morning we went to a cafe and got pancakes and milkshakes and that was pretty expensive too. Just a weird day financially. Tuesday: Tall Mountain (again) We decided to go attracting on a tall mountain near our house. It is a very steep incline. There are 2 concrete paths so you can get cars up there. After climbing a bit, we went and visited people. We were able to find four people (and 3 family members later on) which was great. Not much else happened. Appointments fall a lot so we have time to fin...

"Vamos a perdernos" - Let's go get lost

Tuesday: Waiting in Tegucigalpa  We did transfers Tuesday morning (got announced Monday and we do them on Tuesday). We dropped Nuñez off with one of the secretaries and headed to the church building. We arrived with the secretaries (2 hrs late) and went to see if the previous elders have arrived. True to their nature: nope. We had to wait for them to arrive. They arrived 1.5 hours later. The APs were calling them and everything but at least they arrived before 11, kinda. We headed off to Sigua in a mission taxi because they have to send the taxi to Comayagua anyway to pickup the new gringos. So we packed our district's stuff and headed off. When we arrived, I had to pack up all my stuff quickly because well, I was changing areas. We headed to our house (we have a house) and unpacked. That was it for the day, speed packing and waiting. The Rest of the Week To prevent boredom of me repeating myself, the rest of the week kinda was the same. Each day we contacted old investigators, not...

Soccer Send-Off

Chaz's trainer Elder Nunez was a popular missionary. As part of sending him home, there was a soccer game. His mission friends against the office elders. They rented a field for the game. Chaz played goalie. His new companion Elder Xicará is in the photo too. I think we have the pronunciation right: Elder Chic-a-RA

Transfer to Siguatepeque

This week again is going to be different. Conference and Nuñez packing made it more stale.  Transfers I am leaving El Carmen for the Siguatepeque area. Nuñez thought it was a possibility. This area is too slow for Elders so we have sisters there now. I have the now former Immigration and Technology secretary as my companion. I met him at the airport and his name is Elder Xicará. (Good luck with the pronunciation). Visiting Everyone We just about visited every investigator we had in the span of a couple of days. There was like 2 people we didn't have time for or didn't have time for us. We visited tons of members (watched the women's session with some members as well). Nuñez said goodbye to them (We weren't sure if I was leaving as well) and some gave him gifts. General Conference We were able to get 9 investigators to watch general Conference and there was probably a lot more. Nuñez explained that the amount of Latinos going on a mission is extremely low. It's lik...
