Two Baptismal Dates

 Monday: Zone P-day

We had p-day day with our entire zone on Monday. We hung out and had pupusas for lunch. Not too much happened other than spending time with the other missionaries.

Tuesday: Maryuri
During Tuesday afternoon, Elder Xicara kept on saying that he really wanted a baptism date. I asked if he thought anyone was ready and he wasn't sure. We went and visited the family of Maryuri who is one of our investigators. They needed help cleaning the house so my companion swept while I washed all the dishes.

Afterwards we had a lesson with the family and started to talk about the plan of salvation. We were talking about the requirements for spirit paradise and baptism came up. We then talked about the Doctrine of Christ and how baptism is a commandment of God. We asked if Maryuri wanted to and she said yes! She is going to be baptized the first of May, but we still have concerns about her father's opinion of us.

That night we visited one of the sisters in the ward and she taught Elder Xicara how to make tortillas. They did taste pretty good.

Wednesday: Jonny, Jonny and Jon
No joke, those are the names of people in a family. We met Jonny, Jonny and Jon while we were walking around and we noticed that they needed some help hauling bricks. We helped them and they are ok with us visiting them which is great.

We met the husband-to-be of the family we want to marry. He speaks a little English because he worked in Chicago for 17 years. It was great to finally meet him

Thursday: Lessons!!!
We went up on a mountain nearby and were able to teach some lessons. We talked with one family for a while and taught of the restoration with one of the people. We challenged her to read part of the Book of Mormon and let's see how that goes...

We visited Maryuri again and we helped them chop wood. We're not very good at that. Maryuri's father came and we were able to talk with him for a bit. He had problems with us before because we didn't know him, but now we feel like things are better.

Friday: Exchanges with Elder Morales
The zone leaders called us at 6:30 in the morning and told us that we were doing exchanges that day. After frantically cleaning the apartment, they arrived and I was with Elder Morales. Elder Morales is from Guatemala too and he is the newer zone leader. We ended visiting only members because no one wants appointments. We did have a great time and great lessons.

Saturday: Lots of Rain
It was a very, very, very wet. It rained pretty much all afternoon and no one wants appointments when its rains. We were able to visit a family where we are waiting for the marriage papers. We talked with them and asked for them to go to church (they did) which was great.

Sunday: Another Baptism
We attended church and one of the members gave her farewell talk. Afterwards, her mother told us that someone who came is one of the people that the previous elders were teaching. We had scheduled an appointment with her for that afternoon and it was nice to get to know the family beforehand.

The family lives very close to us so we visited them (walked in the rain again). The investigator told us that she wanted to get baptized so we were able to teach her about baptism and we got another baptismal date.
Afterwards, I started to feel sick and was sick all afternoon and a bit into the night. Not fun Our pensionista (Honduras mission lingo for the member who makes us our lunch and dinner) did give medication and I am fine today.

That just about sums up the week.

Pictures with Details

Still no letter from Chaz this week, but we talked with him after he sent a bunch of pictures. Here are some of the photos with explanations: Elder Bahr and Elder Jarman at a river near their house. Cooling off in the water. No swimming! Elder Jarman teaching members how to make French Toast Teeter break during the day. There was a whole rabbit cooking thing, not sure if this is rabbit or not. Making corn - said it tastes like popcorn. Skinning and eating rabbit. Chaz says it tasted amazing.

Teaching, Music, Lessons and a Baptism

Monday Spent the morning at the mission office. Bussed back and did my email and phone call. Played some basketball at the church. I'm not great at making 3pt shots but up close I'm decent. Tuesday - Got another baptism date We had district council and lunch with the district. There was a small restaurant? bar? behind a sweet shop. We had pollo chuco again. (Chicken covered  with sauces)  We taught this investigator, Esperanza who couldn't read but has been taught the lessons and wants to know if the church is true. She's currently having issues because her family and her family's pastor have been pressuring her not to go to church.  After the lesson we did her dishes using one of the outdoor "sinks". It was a large basin filled with water and had a ledge where you could wash your dishes. You get clean water from the basin, wash the dish, and you deposit the dirty water on the ledge because it had a drain.  Later that day we visited an inactive family wh...

Last Week (this is late, from the last week of October)

---Baptism--- We had the baptism of Nayeli on Sunday. She had been an investigator for a very long time (since last December) and many missionaries had given up on her. The entire ward attended which was great. We ran out of cake and there wasn't enough seating for everyone. It was great to see her take that step ---Another Baptism--- We attended the baptism of the bishop's daughter on Monday as well. The baptism doesn't count for us, but it's still great to see another baptism for the ward. We were able to help with the prep for it which was fun. We had to tape a mop to a broom to get the door open (hard to fill the font without the keys to it but we managed) ---Spiritual Thought--  But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you. John 14:6  I really like this scripture because of how well it describes the Holy Ghost. He helps us ...
