Stake Conference

---Tuesday--- "Pónganse Pilas" (This phrase is too Honduran to have a translation in English, sorry) We had our multizones in the morning. The APs talked about how we need to work on the small things. We are doing well with the big stuff but there is always room for improvement. Our president talked about becoming better at getting our investigators to find personal revelation. They need to get answers for themselves and we just need to be there to guide them. He said we need to "Pongase pilas" and continually try harder to be great. (explanation for pongase pilas: pilas is the word people use for someone who is just great at their calling or what they do. We use the word pilas to describe the people who just want to help us out a ton. They are the people who are full in and just dedicated to the work. It's also used for something that is just really really great. Pongase just means become or as it literally translates "put yourself". So I guess you ...

Many Zone Meetings

---Tuesday--- Zone Meeting and Relationship advice In the morning we had a meeting with all the zone and the Stake Mission Leader. He talked about how the stake is really excited that the zone is only the stake boundaries so the stake and the missionaries can work better together. We talked a lot about missionary work and afterwards we had pizza. The stake knows what missionaries like. Afterwards we had a visit with a member. Her Evangelical friends came over and we talked alot. Elder Alvey started to ask them questions about love and relationship advice. We talked about how both members of the couple should be able to do anything. Wash clothes, make food, clean etc. It doesn't matter if its a female job or mens job because sometimes one or the other can't do it and its important that they are both able to do it. ---Wednesday--- Donut Making That night we headed off to our pensionista's house to make donuts. I had learned how to make donuts in my pre...

Bienvenido a Tiloarque

---Tuesday--- Bienvenido a Tiloarque We got up and went to Tegucigalpa first thing in the morning. We met our new comps and we went off to my new area. I only had to go by taxi so it was pretty fast. I arrived in my new area. Tiloarque. It is a part of the city of Tegucigalpa. It is super hilly. You have to go up or down to go anywhere and there are few flat parts. My apartment is on the 3rd floor of an apartment complex. We do have a pulperia and a mercadito on the first floor so buying things is super easy here.  One thing that is really great about this area is that we have a pensionista. She doesn't live too close, but she does cook really well. On my way to visit her the first time, Elder Alvey (my new companion) told me that she was a Jehovah Witness and she likes to mess with the Elders. I was like "ok" and we went to their house. We ate lunch without talking much and afterwards, the pensionista started talking to me. Asking me to share a scripture or an...

Still a Tourist

Today I received the news that they are closing my area for a couple of months. There just isn't enough missionaries to put 2 in a Group in the middle of nowhere. Let's talk about my last week here. ---Monday--- Funeral That night we had to go to a funeral. A friend of a group of investigators died, so we went and visited the funeral with them. There was a ton of people there. Looked like half the town was gathered there to say good goodbye. ---Tuesday--- Josue We went and walked a 30 minute walk in 10 minutes just to arrive at an appointment on time. We visited Josue who is a recent convert here in this area. He lives out pretty far away, but he is a great guy. His dad was there and was a goofball towards his kids. He made fun of his daughter's art and was very much a dad with them. ---Wednesday--- Lesson with the GP We had the opportunity to teach a lesson with our group president. If you don't know or remember, he is a terrible leader but a great pastor. He gives gre...

Actually last week

---Tuesday--- Teaching people We had our normal district council and all. After that, we had lunch (it was pretty good). We got back home a bit later than usual (Around 3). We were able to chat with someone for a while though. She was kinda rude during the conversation, because she just kept interrupting everybody, including her own daughter when she tried to share a personal experience. Though it was aggravating, it was still pretty fun talking to her. ---Wednesday--- Cerron and Contacting We met this guy Mario Cerron a while ago and we stopped by his house to teach him. We decided to read a chapter from the Book of Mormon. The last lesson we had, we talked about it and he actually did read a little of it. He didn't understand how much of it he was supposed to read, so we read the chapter with him. Afterwards, we invited him to read the introduction of the book and he decided that he was going to. He is interested in our message and all which is great and reading a litt...

Wild Week (July 12-18)

Last week was eventful to say the least, but here we go!!!! ---Tuesday--- Multizonas We had to get up and go to Multizonas. Multizonas were great. I got poisoned by the horchata (who puts milk in horchata?), but we did get dishware. President Baqueadano was talking about how important obedience is. He's very enthusiastic about it and told some stories in a very Honduran voice which was hilarious (These people are fun to talk to).  ---Wednesday--- Weird Catholic Lady We visited this lady that sends us very Christian videos (they are pretty weird). We taught her the plan of salvation and she was super interested. She was super interested in the lesson and wanted to read the Book of Mormon. ---Thursday--- Intercambios We had intercambios (Splits, Exchanges, etc). I went to Tegus and did nothing all day (the other elder couldn't walk, broke something in his foot). It was super boring and not fun at all. I did get free donuts that were amazing, so it wasn't a total waste of time...
