Still a Tourist

Today I received the news that they are closing my area for a couple of months. There just isn't enough missionaries to put 2 in a Group in the middle of nowhere.

Let's talk about my last week here.

---Monday--- Funeral
That night we had to go to a funeral. A friend of a group of investigators died, so we went and visited the funeral with them. There was a ton of people there. Looked like half the town was gathered there to say good goodbye.

---Tuesday--- Josue
We went and walked a 30 minute walk in 10 minutes just to arrive at an appointment on time. We visited Josue who is a recent convert here in this area. He lives out pretty far away, but he is a great guy. His dad was there and was a goofball towards his kids. He made fun of his daughter's art and was very much a dad with them.

---Wednesday--- Lesson with the GP
We had the opportunity to teach a lesson with our group president. If you don't know or remember, he is a terrible leader but a great pastor. He gives great talks but they all make him look like a hypocrite. We visited with him our investigator named Mario Cerrato. He has been taught by the missionaries for 3 years now. We taught him the Word of Wisdom and afterwards he complimented us on how we taught it. The group president can teach really well and this was a commandment that he didn't struggle with so everything went really well.

---Thursday--- Contacting in sector 1
We went contacting in sector 1. Divina Providencia is divided into sectors and sector 1 is the farthest away from the house but the closest to the church building. Baer (My companion by the way) decided to show me that part of town in case I stayed. We went out and found some people who are really receptive and would love to have visits from the missionaries. It's really sad that we aren't able to teach them now.

---Friday---- Bunny Murder and Sexist Atheists

Yeah, eventful...

In the morning we prepared more bunnies to be eaten. We caught them from the EQ President's (Joel's) backyard. We killed them and skinned them and everything. I got good and skinning them and it's not too hard if the knife is sharp enough.

While we were hunting bunnies we got ourselves trapped outside because I accidentally slammed the door shut. We had to spend an our to pop the door off. We did successfully break into the house so new skill I guess.

And now to the sexist Atheists (no, they were not the bunnies). We had a family home evening with a member family that night. Nearly every one in that house is super feminist and Atheists. By the way, they were all members as well. We talked for a while and that turned into an argument that made no sense. They were saying that they didn't believe anything were saying and we were telling them to get a testimony and to act in faith.

"You don't know anything you masculinists!"
"Pray and read the scriptures to find the answers to doctrinal questions. "
"You don't know anything".
"(Quotes scripture from the bible)" etc

Luckily our Elders Quorum president was there to help explain some things and defend us from being verbally harassed. Weird night, good riddance.

---Saturday--- Nothing to do
A bunch of appointments got canceled on us so we were just bored the entire day. We would go to a lesson, they wouldn't be home and that continued all day.

---Sunday--- No one came!!!
11 people came to church on Sunday. 1 investigator, us, 7 brothers and 1 sister.

Yeah.... bad way to end the transfer. Luckily during 2 hour the EQ President got everyone hyped up for ministering. He got everyone motivated to help the inactive members so I am excited to return here one day and see what the fruits are.

Pictures with Details

Still no letter from Chaz this week, but we talked with him after he sent a bunch of pictures. Here are some of the photos with explanations: Elder Bahr and Elder Jarman at a river near their house. Cooling off in the water. No swimming! Elder Jarman teaching members how to make French Toast Teeter break during the day. There was a whole rabbit cooking thing, not sure if this is rabbit or not. Making corn - said it tastes like popcorn. Skinning and eating rabbit. Chaz says it tasted amazing.

Teaching, Music, Lessons and a Baptism

Monday Spent the morning at the mission office. Bussed back and did my email and phone call. Played some basketball at the church. I'm not great at making 3pt shots but up close I'm decent. Tuesday - Got another baptism date We had district council and lunch with the district. There was a small restaurant? bar? behind a sweet shop. We had pollo chuco again. (Chicken covered  with sauces)  We taught this investigator, Esperanza who couldn't read but has been taught the lessons and wants to know if the church is true. She's currently having issues because her family and her family's pastor have been pressuring her not to go to church.  After the lesson we did her dishes using one of the outdoor "sinks". It was a large basin filled with water and had a ledge where you could wash your dishes. You get clean water from the basin, wash the dish, and you deposit the dirty water on the ledge because it had a drain.  Later that day we visited an inactive family wh...

Last Week (this is late, from the last week of October)

---Baptism--- We had the baptism of Nayeli on Sunday. She had been an investigator for a very long time (since last December) and many missionaries had given up on her. The entire ward attended which was great. We ran out of cake and there wasn't enough seating for everyone. It was great to see her take that step ---Another Baptism--- We attended the baptism of the bishop's daughter on Monday as well. The baptism doesn't count for us, but it's still great to see another baptism for the ward. We were able to help with the prep for it which was fun. We had to tape a mop to a broom to get the door open (hard to fill the font without the keys to it but we managed) ---Spiritual Thought--  But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you. John 14:6  I really like this scripture because of how well it describes the Holy Ghost. He helps us ...
