Teaching Whoever, Wherever & Whenever

This week is going to be different because there was a lot of days with only one or zero interesting things so I might as well just talk about those. Café Savoy We visited a Café (Café literally means coffee shop in Spanish but the way we use it in English is 100% accurate) and bought some pastries. One of them was not very cheap (1.50 for a cream cheese filled doughnut type thing is expensive here, amazing deal in the US though). They tasted really good.  Maria This story takes place on two different days and is one of the reasons for the format change this week. It would've been weird to separate the two parts. On Tuesday we were sitting around and scheduling  appointments and we really didn't have much to do. We just don't have a lot of investigators. We decided to pray to see if there was something the Lord wanted us to do that we hadn't thought of. After the prayer, Nuñez though it was a good idea to visit a house where we have had no success before. We scheduled a...

Apostle Visit

Monday: Hitchhiking with Members After we did our laundry we headed out to the bus stop to wait for a bus to Tegus. While we were waiting, a member pulled up and asked where we were going. We said Tegus and they were going there as well. So we rode with members all the way to Tegus. They dropped us off at the temple and we took pictures. After pictures we started walking to the place where we would be sleeping that night and a random person pulled up and offered us a ride. (Random members saying Hi in Tegus happens a lot). We got a ride to a place close to the house and just walked there. We got there early so we got our pick of beds and just hanged out for the rest of the night. Tuesday: Apostle Visit We got up early the next day to head to a chapel in the Tegucigalpa mission. As we were driving in that mission I noticed that the Tegucigalpa part of town is way nicer than Comayagüela. We socialized with the rest of the mission and then we went inside. After a while ...

Optimistic Investigators

Monday: Hand Washing Clothes I learned how to wash clothes manually. Apply soap, scrub, and rinse. It's simple but still very different from what I am used to.  We went tie shopping at a formal clothes store. It was basically a Kohls. I found some great ties there. Nicer ties here are like $6 each so the price isn't that bad either. We had dinner at the restaurant and the person taking our order wanted to read the Book of Mormon? It was strange. On a later day we gave it to her and who knows what will come from it. Tuesday: José Flores and Ana We had a lesson with one of our investigators that wants to be baptized. She can't for certain reasons out of her control but we came to see what she needed. She asked us to teach her son because she is worried about him. We ended up giving her a blessing to feel comfort because she is having a hard time.  Later that night we had our first lesson with the optimistic Investigator from the previous week.  We read from the Book of Morm...

Success in La Mata

Monday: P-day in Comayagua  We spent the day in Comayagua. We played soccer, basketball, uno and spike ball. It wasn't as boring as previous p-days. Tuesday: Family Home Evening I guess? After hours of no success, at around 6:30 we had family home evening  with an inactive family. Their inactive neighbor joined and someone from the branch dropped in.  We talked about dedicating time to the Lord and compared it to the Widow's Mite. Even if you only have a little time, you sacrifice is still worth it.  Wednesday: Taulabé Because we had so little success the previous day, we decided to visit another town in our area. (Our area is pretty huge when you look at a map but practically no one lives outside of Taulabé and Siguatepeque). After a 1 hr bus ride, we arrived in this small town. It has a busy main part of town but it ends pretty fast if you walk away from the town center. We taught this one family and one of them shared his story of repentance from his alcohol addic...
