General Authority Interview

Monday: Another Baptism

We had a baptism to go to in Siguatepeque again. The girl getting baptized was moving to Spain so they did it as soon as she felt like she was ready. Transfers was that day and not much changed. We got new Zone Leaders and I am the only Gringo in my District now.

Tuesday: The one day with a new person
We went looking for a inactive family with no success (No one remembered where they lived). We did find a new person to teach which was nice. Later that day we went and talked with Berta (That lady is never busy so we just stop by when we want to). We had a pretty long conversation about what are the missionary lessons. We also talked about Come Follow Me and Seminary for quite a bit. We don't think knowledge is going to be a barrier but she is a pretty active Evangelical so that might lead to problems.

Wednesday: Wild Goose Chase and Bible Herb
The water in our apartment went out while I was in the shower. It did return for my companions. We met a family that wanted a lesson and to give us lunch so we canceled lunch and went to their house, no one home. After waiting a while we went and got pizza. During pizza they told us they got home do we went back and still no one home. We tried texting and calling but accomplished nothing.

We visited one of the members and my stomach was feeling off so she gave me some anise. You can look it up in the Bible Dictionary and it does have a pretty good definition. What you do is smell it and it relaxes your stomach. That was interesting. We visited another member and that was it for the day.

Thursday: Large Zone, 1 House.
We headed off to Tegucigalpa for the Multi Zone with Elder Taylor. Being Crammed in a bus for 3 hours is not fun. When we arrived at the mission home (after bussing and walking around for a bit in Tegus), there were a couple Elders there from the day before waiting for their ride back. After a while, the rest of our zone arrived and we had our entire Zone inside of that house. The Elders that lived there were worried about beds. We did a lot of talking that night and I am now not the newest person in the Zone.

The Elders that arrived that transfer came from Mexico City because they were able to go to the MTC. Apparently they didn't have a hard time understanding Mexico City Spanish but it's different here. After a lot of talking we went to bed.

Friday: Interview with General Authority
We had the Multi Zone that morning. Right before it started I was told that Elder Taylor wanted an interview with me. Elder Taylor taught for the most part during the Multi Zone. Gave some pretty good lessons, one about having Faith, Hope and Charity is necessary to be obedient and work effectively.

After it ended (at about 3), I had an interview with Elder Taylor. I was led downstairs where there was the Mission President, Elder Taylor, the President's assistants, and one other missionary. I got to go first and only two missionaries of the people that day got interviewed.

I love that he started the interview with "What do you desire of me?" and he also asked what I wanted to ask a General Authority. I couldn't think of anything so we just talked about the mission and my testimony. I had just met this man yet I could feel his pure love for me and this mission. I guess that what Charity is. Unconditional love no matter if you know them or not.

That night my stomach was still in pain from yesterday so we drove to a Doctor's clinic. It was a small building, but it had equipment and a waiting room. When I described my pain and how I was a little lactose intolerant, he immediately said it was lactose intolerance. The symptoms were a perfect match for it. It's not a little lactose intolerance, it's lactose intolerance. He prescribed me medication because the pain is going to take a while to go away. You can't immediately go from every day pain to no pain.

After that we headed back to the mission home because I needed my mission card and the final bus to Siguatepeque already left. We had to stay an extra night. Wow this day was long.

Saturday: Exact Obedience.
We got back from Tegucigalpa that day. After lunch we followed some of the invitations that Elder Taylor gave and people immediately started suggesting references. After doing that for a few hours we went to sleep because we were tired.

Sunday: 1x1x1

We went to church and 3 non members showed up. Only 1 of the few were an investigator we were actively focusing on the others were friends and family of members.

We did a 1x1x1 where we made a Baptismal goal for the Branch. The branch had some good ideas on how to help our people to progress. Later that night we drove around with the RS President's family and found the family we couldn't find on Tuesday. The family even gave us a referral.

PS: that was it for the week. Spent most of the time in Tegucigalpa for the Seventy visit. I got to know my Zone better as well.

Pictures with Details

Still no letter from Chaz this week, but we talked with him after he sent a bunch of pictures. Here are some of the photos with explanations: Elder Bahr and Elder Jarman at a river near their house. Cooling off in the water. No swimming! Elder Jarman teaching members how to make French Toast Teeter break during the day. There was a whole rabbit cooking thing, not sure if this is rabbit or not. Making corn - said it tastes like popcorn. Skinning and eating rabbit. Chaz says it tasted amazing.

Teaching, Music, Lessons and a Baptism

Monday Spent the morning at the mission office. Bussed back and did my email and phone call. Played some basketball at the church. I'm not great at making 3pt shots but up close I'm decent. Tuesday - Got another baptism date We had district council and lunch with the district. There was a small restaurant? bar? behind a sweet shop. We had pollo chuco again. (Chicken covered  with sauces)  We taught this investigator, Esperanza who couldn't read but has been taught the lessons and wants to know if the church is true. She's currently having issues because her family and her family's pastor have been pressuring her not to go to church.  After the lesson we did her dishes using one of the outdoor "sinks". It was a large basin filled with water and had a ledge where you could wash your dishes. You get clean water from the basin, wash the dish, and you deposit the dirty water on the ledge because it had a drain.  Later that day we visited an inactive family wh...

Last Week (this is late, from the last week of October)

---Baptism--- We had the baptism of Nayeli on Sunday. She had been an investigator for a very long time (since last December) and many missionaries had given up on her. The entire ward attended which was great. We ran out of cake and there wasn't enough seating for everyone. It was great to see her take that step ---Another Baptism--- We attended the baptism of the bishop's daughter on Monday as well. The baptism doesn't count for us, but it's still great to see another baptism for the ward. We were able to help with the prep for it which was fun. We had to tape a mop to a broom to get the door open (hard to fill the font without the keys to it but we managed) ---Spiritual Thought--  But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you. John 14:6  I really like this scripture because of how well it describes the Holy Ghost. He helps us ...
