5 Months Into this!

On the 29th, I hit 5 months being on my mission (around 3.5 - 4 in Honduras)

Monday: Relaxing

This day was just a lot of sitting around and relaxing which was nice. It's good to take a break every once in a while.

Tuesday: "Nos cayó la ley!!!" - Just put it into google translate

While we were preparing to go to an appointment, the travel APs came and visited us. They were "searching" for something which only makes it more weird. They searched the apartment and our phone during our appointment. It was really weird and I am not sure why they went  out this far (3hrs from their apartment) to do that.

The appointment we went to was the birthday party of Karina whose mom we are trying to marry. She had friends over and we met them too which was fine. My head was hurting all day so I didn't eat much. Turns out that was an omen for the next day...

Before we go there, Karina did give us permission to baptize her son, but he's not interested (DANG IT).

Wednesday: SICK

I got really sick that day. There is a stomach bug that comes around this time of year and I got it. The mission nurses (sister missionaries with pharmaceutical knowledge) bought me all sorts of nasty medication to go with it which was disgusting. Worst thing I have ever tasted was this medication you had to drink like an otter pop, yuk.

Thursday: Contacting Nearby

Feeling better, we went out and went knocking on doors. We found a lot of people which was great. We heard that the bishop's son got in an accident at school so we went and visited his family. We gave a blessing to the Bishop and his wife and that was that day.

Friday: 3rd  Covid Vaccine

We went and got our 3rd covid vaccines. After a while of waiting (and the nurses struggling to read my passport with tiny writing) we got it. They just jab it into you with very little prep so yeah, sanitary. We did not feel well for several hours after that, so great.

At night we went and visited an inactive sister in the ward. She's discouraged because her family is not interested in coming back to church. She gave us directions to where one of the members who has an unbaptized 9 year old lives but they were not great. Thanks for trying I guess.

Saturday: Youth Activity and Carnival

We got invited to the ward youth activity. We taught a lesson on the Word of Wisdom and played a spot I haven't played in a while, volleyball. Most of the people there hadn't played it before which made it interesting. We played to 45 pts (didn't take too long). It was nice to play it again, no matter how bad I am.

Sunday: Las Colinas

We attended sacrament meeting and I had to help pass the sacrament. I hadn't done it in years so it was strange but the ward never has that many people attend so it was easy. Afterwards, we had Sunday School which was mainly just sisters in the ward. There were around 4 brothers in that room and around 15 sisters soooooo yeah. The sister we talked with on Friday came, which was great.

After church and washing some clothes, we headed out to go visit Jonny and his family. We found out he wants to read the Book of Mormon (great) but fell asleep before he could (not great). We are going to visit him again on Tuesday so let's see how that goes.

We then went and visited and talked with an inactive family. Apparently the parents want to get baptized but there are barriers (need to be legally married and there are several issues with that) so we are going to try to work with them. There is also an 8 yr old in the family so we can still work with her, yay.

We went and visited someone we met going house to house and got to know her pretty well too. Lot more stuff this day which was really great.

---Maryuri---

We weren't able to get time with her and she's not entirely too interested in getting baptized so I guess we will teach her more and try again later this month.

Pictures with Details

Still no letter from Chaz this week, but we talked with him after he sent a bunch of pictures. Here are some of the photos with explanations: Elder Bahr and Elder Jarman at a river near their house. Cooling off in the water. No swimming! Elder Jarman teaching members how to make French Toast Teeter break during the day. There was a whole rabbit cooking thing, not sure if this is rabbit or not. Making corn - said it tastes like popcorn. Skinning and eating rabbit. Chaz says it tasted amazing.

Teaching, Music, Lessons and a Baptism

Monday Spent the morning at the mission office. Bussed back and did my email and phone call. Played some basketball at the church. I'm not great at making 3pt shots but up close I'm decent. Tuesday - Got another baptism date We had district council and lunch with the district. There was a small restaurant? bar? behind a sweet shop. We had pollo chuco again. (Chicken covered  with sauces)  We taught this investigator, Esperanza who couldn't read but has been taught the lessons and wants to know if the church is true. She's currently having issues because her family and her family's pastor have been pressuring her not to go to church.  After the lesson we did her dishes using one of the outdoor "sinks". It was a large basin filled with water and had a ledge where you could wash your dishes. You get clean water from the basin, wash the dish, and you deposit the dirty water on the ledge because it had a drain.  Later that day we visited an inactive family wh...

Last Week (this is late, from the last week of October)

---Baptism--- We had the baptism of Nayeli on Sunday. She had been an investigator for a very long time (since last December) and many missionaries had given up on her. The entire ward attended which was great. We ran out of cake and there wasn't enough seating for everyone. It was great to see her take that step ---Another Baptism--- We attended the baptism of the bishop's daughter on Monday as well. The baptism doesn't count for us, but it's still great to see another baptism for the ward. We were able to help with the prep for it which was fun. We had to tape a mop to a broom to get the door open (hard to fill the font without the keys to it but we managed) ---Spiritual Thought--  But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you. John 14:6  I really like this scripture because of how well it describes the Holy Ghost. He helps us ...
