My Last Week in Sigua

 Well.... last week

Yeah, not much worth writing about happened the past week. I got my package (thanks mom and dad) and we had zone conference. So I guess I can talk about that.

We arrived in Comayagua the day before. When we arrived I found my package which made me happy. We had 3 talk seminar lesson things (like I know what to call them). The overall messages where about how obedience and stability leads to success.

It was cool to see the vision the mission president has for the mission. He also talked about how the most important thing we do on our mission is to convert ourselves. When he does go-home interviews, the only questions he has are about how we have grown personally.

We did our interviews with the president after the zone conference. He asked me about my Spanish and if I felt ready to train. I shared with him the principal in 1 Nephi 3:7:
"And it came to pass that I, Nephi, said unto my father: I will go and do the things which the Lord hath      commanded, for I know that the Lord giveth no commandments unto the children of men, save he shall  prepare a way for them that they may accomplish the thing which he commandeth them."

That was about it for last week.

Tuesday: Baptismal Prep
To help out with the wedding preparations, we went and visited the lawyer of the member we want to marry. It was strange being in a law office for the first time but the lawyer committed to help her out fill out some of the forms which was great After that, we prepped Jose (someone we have with a baptismal date) for the baptismal questions.

Wednesday: Tracting
On Wednesday we went door knocking and accidentally ran in to a family of members (bound to happen eventually). We met with her and talked with her about Come Follow Me. It was fun to visit with her.

Thursday: Member visit
One of the members invited us to visit and teach her mom so we went and visited her. We socialized and chatted and invited her to come to church (she didn't come)

Friday: Baptismal Interviews
Because we had baptisms the next day (and the zone leaders needed help) we spent the entire day doing baptism interviews either for ourselves or the ZLs. Lots of interviews but that is just about it.

Saturday: "No hay luz!"
That expression literally means there's no light. Its local meaning is that there is no power. Power outage nearly all day, yay....

To make things worse, we had two baptisms that day and we need power to use the baptismal font. We had to hope and wait that we would have power before the baptism

Luckily we were fortunate enough to get power before the baptism. We baptized Carolina (someone who was ready when we met her) and Jose (who we have been working with all transfer). We had a ton of people from the ward come, which was great.

Sunday: Going to Primary
Yeah.... going to primary. We brought Jose to church with us and it turns out he is technically primary age (10). He didn't want to go to primary by himself and so we were there with him. We sang songs and had fun in class. Primary is weird now because it's only one hour and it goes by really fast.

There was also the young adult devotional at night and we watched it at our pensionista's house. It was great overall.

Today: The reason for the Title
Well.... I found out this morning I was getting transferred to an area in Tegucigalpa. My companion is going to be Elder Ramos from Mexico which is interesting but that is about all I know.

Elder Xicara
Well, time to say goodbye to Xicara. He was forgetful and unorganized, but he was willing to do anything that was necessary to get people to progress. He values making good relationships which is great. We would spend hours of time with people and hang out with them and because of his desire for friendships, we had one of our baptisms. Jose and his mom weren't too interested in being baptized, but because of our efforts he was.

Pictures with Details

Still no letter from Chaz this week, but we talked with him after he sent a bunch of pictures. Here are some of the photos with explanations: Elder Bahr and Elder Jarman at a river near their house. Cooling off in the water. No swimming! Elder Jarman teaching members how to make French Toast Teeter break during the day. There was a whole rabbit cooking thing, not sure if this is rabbit or not. Making corn - said it tastes like popcorn. Skinning and eating rabbit. Chaz says it tasted amazing.

Teaching, Music, Lessons and a Baptism

Monday Spent the morning at the mission office. Bussed back and did my email and phone call. Played some basketball at the church. I'm not great at making 3pt shots but up close I'm decent. Tuesday - Got another baptism date We had district council and lunch with the district. There was a small restaurant? bar? behind a sweet shop. We had pollo chuco again. (Chicken covered  with sauces)  We taught this investigator, Esperanza who couldn't read but has been taught the lessons and wants to know if the church is true. She's currently having issues because her family and her family's pastor have been pressuring her not to go to church.  After the lesson we did her dishes using one of the outdoor "sinks". It was a large basin filled with water and had a ledge where you could wash your dishes. You get clean water from the basin, wash the dish, and you deposit the dirty water on the ledge because it had a drain.  Later that day we visited an inactive family wh...

Last Week (this is late, from the last week of October)

---Baptism--- We had the baptism of Nayeli on Sunday. She had been an investigator for a very long time (since last December) and many missionaries had given up on her. The entire ward attended which was great. We ran out of cake and there wasn't enough seating for everyone. It was great to see her take that step ---Another Baptism--- We attended the baptism of the bishop's daughter on Monday as well. The baptism doesn't count for us, but it's still great to see another baptism for the ward. We were able to help with the prep for it which was fun. We had to tape a mop to a broom to get the door open (hard to fill the font without the keys to it but we managed) ---Spiritual Thought--  But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you. John 14:6  I really like this scripture because of how well it describes the Holy Ghost. He helps us ...
