Not too much happened, a lot of church attendance though

 ---Tuesday--- Visit with Andy

We headed out to go visit Andy again. We went and talked about the Word of Wisdom and learned that he needs to stop drinking coffee. He only drank it to help him get up in the morning so we are going to see how that goes.

Later that night we went and visited an investigator named Delmi. We talked to her and she was super pessimistic about the world, how it's full of darkness and misery (somebody watches too much Honduran news, it's pretty depressing). It was an interesting conversation to say the least.

---Wednesday---.Visit with Young Women's President
That day we went and visited with the Young Women's President. We went to ask her about inactive members and to tell her that we have 2 investigators (sisters) who are young women aged. She was super excited about that (we have a small YW's organization here). It was great to see her excitement and how she was willing to help us in any way she can.

---Thursday---
Uhh... we just struggled to find an appointment the entire day. Not too fun.

---Friday--- Contacting Day
We had a contacting day with our whole district. We had the companionships split into groups of two and we went into each area and contacted. We had a lot of success in the area's that weren't my area. 6 Elders contacting in our area and nothing. One group knocked on about 25-30 doors and nobody wanted anything. We were able to help out the area that was struggling the most which was really great.

---Saturday--- Andy 2, Amador Family
We went to visit Andy again to see how he was with coffee. He hasn't drank it since we visited him. It was difficult for him to get up in the morning but he tried some things and they worked. We talked with his grandmother and she is fine with us teaching him and being baptized, but she thinks he's a helpless child and doesn't think he is mature. He's 13 and has been receiving lessons from the missionaries for years, cool down woman.

Later that day we visited the Amador Family. There we have 3 investigators, 2 of which are in YWs. We talked about the church, baptism, and the Book of Mormon and they want to get to know the church before anything. They are reading the Book of Mormon and thinking about it, which is really good.

---Sunday--- Thats a lot of people.
A lot of our investigators came to church on Sunday (5 total). It was great to see so many of them and 1 whom the members that would never come to church. Her name is Reina and she is a family member of some of the members and the ward was surprised that she came. She was known as a super evangelical lady and many people, including her family members, are surprised that she is super interested. She watched the movie about the restoration and seems super interested in everything. People can surprise us if we invite them to act with faith.

---Spiritual Thought---
For this weeks spiritual thought I am sharing the spoken word from this week's Music and the Spoken Word.

The Spoken Word - Love of Work Is Success

Some believe that the greatest goal in life is to avoid work. It might sound appealing, but sooner or later, experience teaches us that leisure is not the same thing as happiness. Honest labor is an essential part of a healthy, happy life. Even when work is not a financial necessity, it is a spiritual necessity.

A boy growing up on a farm in western Canada learned a valuable lesson about work. Near his home was a road that passed between two farms. He noticed that the crops on one side of the road always seemed plentiful, but those on the other side were meager and thin. Why were they so different, he wondered? Rain fell on both at the same time. The sun shone on each side equally. Yet the same plants that were so abundant and healthy on one farm were sparse and weak on the other.

Curious, the boy observed the work of each farmer. It didn’t take long to notice that the successful farmer worked hard at his job—plowing, seeding, weeding, and harvesting. The neighbor, on the other hand, was rarely seen working the field.

With that powerful lesson planted in his heart, the boy grew to become a hard-working businessman, politician, and religious leader. Recalling his observations on that Canadian farmland, he said: “We must learn to set our priorities straight. No one can be successful in [their] line of work unless [they work] at it in the proper season and [play] in the proper season.”

Of course, too much work is just as unhealthy as too much leisure. We all need rest, relaxation, and recreation. But ultimately, rest is enjoyable and satisfying after we have given our best efforts to meaningful work.

Work is good therapy for so many problems. It is one of the best antidotes for worry and boredom. And when we feel that a challenge or task is beyond our natural abilities, what we may lack in aptitude, we can often make up for in consistent effort.

As another wise religious leader taught, “The privilege to work is a gift, [the] power to work is a blessing, [the] love of work is success.”

I really liked this message because of how it teaches that work is such an important part of our life. It's a necessity that we have as human beings. It gives me, and I hope it does to you too, the motivational drive to keep working, whether it be on the mission or what I'll do when I come home.

Pictures with Details

Still no letter from Chaz this week, but we talked with him after he sent a bunch of pictures. Here are some of the photos with explanations: Elder Bahr and Elder Jarman at a river near their house. Cooling off in the water. No swimming! Elder Jarman teaching members how to make French Toast Teeter break during the day. There was a whole rabbit cooking thing, not sure if this is rabbit or not. Making corn - said it tastes like popcorn. Skinning and eating rabbit. Chaz says it tasted amazing.

Teaching, Music, Lessons and a Baptism

Monday Spent the morning at the mission office. Bussed back and did my email and phone call. Played some basketball at the church. I'm not great at making 3pt shots but up close I'm decent. Tuesday - Got another baptism date We had district council and lunch with the district. There was a small restaurant? bar? behind a sweet shop. We had pollo chuco again. (Chicken covered  with sauces)  We taught this investigator, Esperanza who couldn't read but has been taught the lessons and wants to know if the church is true. She's currently having issues because her family and her family's pastor have been pressuring her not to go to church.  After the lesson we did her dishes using one of the outdoor "sinks". It was a large basin filled with water and had a ledge where you could wash your dishes. You get clean water from the basin, wash the dish, and you deposit the dirty water on the ledge because it had a drain.  Later that day we visited an inactive family wh...

Last Week (this is late, from the last week of October)

---Baptism--- We had the baptism of Nayeli on Sunday. She had been an investigator for a very long time (since last December) and many missionaries had given up on her. The entire ward attended which was great. We ran out of cake and there wasn't enough seating for everyone. It was great to see her take that step ---Another Baptism--- We attended the baptism of the bishop's daughter on Monday as well. The baptism doesn't count for us, but it's still great to see another baptism for the ward. We were able to help with the prep for it which was fun. We had to tape a mop to a broom to get the door open (hard to fill the font without the keys to it but we managed) ---Spiritual Thought--  But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you. John 14:6  I really like this scripture because of how well it describes the Holy Ghost. He helps us ...
